 Members involved in land use planning We support public interest in landscape and architectural planning. We work with the national Scenic America organization to help citizens, civic groups, and local governments to shape how they want their communities to look and grow. Scenic Illinois was founded in 1991 and developed as volunteer network of concerned citizens, professionals, and representatives of other organizations with related interests. Our early efforts were concentrated on increasing public awareness for individuals to work with public officials and businesses to reduce intrusive outdoor advertising. Accomplishments  Enjoying community educational tours We are currently working to expand our advocacy, educational and communication capabilities to assist community groups and establish local chapters. With further funding, we hope to make available more technical assistance such as community assessment “tools” and aesthetic evaluations. Scenic Illinois is an incorporated not-for-profit and tax exempt organization (501(c)(3) which is registered with the Illinois Attorney General’s office for charitable purposes. We are currently seeking volunteers and contributions toward our mission and goals. |
